7 Nov 2022

AI’s Interference with the Judicial Process and Governance Approaches to Regulate AI by Jane Loo and Willow Wong (AI Ethics: Global Perspectives) This module contains two parts. The first half of the lecture aims to examine the impact of AI on the judicial process and on an accused’s due process rights. Specifically, it will look at how predictive algorithms are used in the criminal justice system and debate whether the use of such algorithms improve or worsen the fairness of the criminal process. In the second half of the lecture, a cross-cultural examination is conducted to see how AI governance initiatives in Europe and China seek to regulate the complex challenges posed by AI technologies.
